🌟 First Peoples Fund is NOW ACCEPTING applications for the Native Arts Ecology Building (NAEB): Rooted Pathways Program!
Native Arts Ecology Building (NAEB) extends support beyond individual artists by investing in Native nonprofit organizations, artist collectives, & Native Community Development Financial Institutions. Through cohort-based programs like Rooted Pathways, organizations gain resources, relationships, & tools to create meaningful opportunities for Native artists & elevate their value across communities.
$275,000 in funding will support 5 small Native-led arts & cultural organizations that are strengthening their foundations, uplifting artists, & deepening Indigenous arts ecosystems, with $55,000 grants to each organization.
➕ ABOUT ROOTED PATHWAYS
Rooted Pathways provides unrestricted general operating support, offering organizations the flexibility to define & advance their own well-being. The program includes participation in a learning cohort & requires interim & final reporting. Designed to support long-term sustainability, Rooted Pathways helps organizations deepen alignment with their mission & vision, strengthening their foundation, fostering growth, & building resilience over time. This program is a part of the @wallacefdn two-year $36 Million Dollar Advancing Well-Being in the Arts Program.
✅ ELIGIBILITY
• Native-led arts organizations, businesses, or collectives with budgets under $500,000
• Serving U.S.-based artists and culture bearers from federally or state-recognized Tribes, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian communities
• Must not have received prior Wallace Foundation funding through other partners
• Must have been operating for at least two years
This is an opportunity with limited awards, but for those deeply rooted in this work. It offers meaningful support to honor Indigenous knowledge, strengthen community well-being, and sustain Native arts for generations to come.

🫂 Applications are now open for the Rural Regenerator Fellowship!
Artists, culture bearers, and makers are essential to the future of rural places—and to the ways those places help our society develop and build new systems or policies that are human-centered, equitable, and resilient. For this Fellowship cycle, we will support 6 artists who are organizing their rural places for care, safety, and solidarity.
Fellowship benefits include:
- An unrestricted award of $15,000
- 1 in-person retreat with fellows
- $3,000 to support travel for Fellow Exchanges, and the opportunity to attend and present at Springboard’s Rural Futures Summit
- The 2026-28 Fellowship will take place over 18 months (September 2026 - March 2028).
Apply by midnight CST on June 18, 2026 at the link in our bio.
New this year – you can also nominate an artist! We invite peers, collaborators, and supporters to nominate a rural artist they’d love to see apply to the Rural Regenerator Fellowship. Nomination is NOT required to apply, but aimed at helping our community encourage applicants they think are a good fit, and reach people who may not know about the program.

The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) proudly hosted our annual Advocate Retreat on May 30th, 2025, a day-long gathering dedicated to the healing and rejuvenation of those on the frontlines of advocacy within our Tribal communities. Centered around the themes of land, community, and self, this year’s retreat served as a much-needed space for rest, reconnection, and reflection.
Advocates are often the unsung heroes doing some of the most difficult, emotionally intense work in our communities. They carry their own stories of pain while fighting tirelessly for the justice and safety of survivors, navigating systems that weren’t built with Indigenous values or wellness in mind. At CSVANW, we recognize their labor and the emotional, physical, and mental toll it can take. Our Advocate Retreat is one way we strive to give back to these advocates: fostering a moment to breathe, to feel supported, and to honor the sacred responsibility of care.

Bike prom is happening! This year's theme is in reference to the French resistance during WWII and anarchist icon Emma Goldman, because the Albuquerque bike scene is anti-fascist and our revolution includes dancing! 🖤❤️🖤
Meet up at the duck pond for critical mass, ride out at 7pm. We'll cruise around the hood for about five miles, then head down the hill, make a little loop around old town plaza, and end at a sweet little outdoor venue downtown. Can't make the ride? You can still come to prom!
Formal wear/prom attire are highly encouraged. Your bicycle can be your date. Please bring cash to donate to SWOP for the venue, and something for the DJ, or venmo me and I'll get it to the right people. 🚲🪩 ~ Lee 🖤❤️🖤
